Taunton Motoring Club

Due to the wonderful weather we have had recently, we are going to start the Thursday night Grass Field events on Thursday 24th May, starting at 7pm.

They will then run throughout the summer.

We are keeping the costs the same as last year, and for newcomers, this is designed to test your car handling skills on a grass field by following a set route. The field is suitable for a normal car, so most cars are ok to have a go. We do insist though that the car is Taxed and MOTed, so you must be able to drive the car to the event.

One of our co-promoted events is running on the 20th May, at Wiscombe. As always we need marshals to help make the event run smoothly. No experience is necessary.

After many years without the Primrose Rally. I have managed to sort a Start and Finish venue for a new event The Primrose Tour.

The route will between 60-70 miles, nice easy navigation and a few questions to answer on the way round. Nothing too cryptic as the idea is for everyone to get to the finish. It should take about 3 hours to get round the route.

Start venue will be the Broom Centre on the Belvedere Trading Estate.

Finish Venue will be Wyevale Garden centre opposite Norton Manor Camp. Cream teas are available @ £4.25. They will need to be ordered before leaving the start.

Route instructions will be available from 12 O’clock (midday) Entry fee will be £1 per car for members and £2 per car for non members which includes day membership of Taunton Motoring Club.

Prize Giving for the Summer Series 2011 and Winter Series 2011/12 will be held at the Bathpool Inn. Thursday 29th March from 8pm onwards. Make sure you come along and support the award winners. This year as well as the overall placings we will be presenting some Junior Awards. Not only that but the committee has agreed to purchase bowls of chips for those that attend. Lets make this a big social turnout as we weren’t able to present awards at the Christmas Party. I will be contacting all the award winners to make sure that they can attend.
